For ARCOlisboa 2021, Galeria Vera Cortês presents three Portuguese artists from different generations, questioning the concept of perception and the set of relations triggered by its relation with the viewer.
António Bolota
António Bolota (1962), whose formation as an engineer inevitably influenced his practice as an artist, creates sculptures that challenge the spaces where they are located, as well as their architecture, using several different materials. Bolota is currently having a solo exhibition at Culturgest, Lisbon, “Mão de Obra” (until the 19th of September).

Through his paintings, João Queiroz (1957) wants to evade the categorical approach that limits the perception of what is really there, aiming to bring back the sense of estrangement that we have lost in relation to nature and, to some extent, also in relation to art itself as the result of passive contemplation.
