Bio

Daniel Blaufuks has been working on the relationship between public and private memory, one of the constant interrogations in his work as a visual artist. He has exhibited widely in museums, private galleries, and festivals and works mainly in photography and video, presenting his work through books, installations, and films. He holds a PhD from the University of Wales, where he wrote on photography and film in relation to the work of W.G. Sebald and Georges Perec, as well in relation to memory and the Holocaust. In 2016 he received the AICA Portugal award for the exhibitions “Attempting Exhaustion” and “Léxico”.

Daniel Blaufuks tem trabalhado sobre a relação entre a memória pública e a memória privada, um tema que é uma das constantes interrogações no seu trabalho como artista visual. Tem exposto largamente em museus, galerias de arte contemporânea e festivais, trabalhando principalmente com fotografia e vídeo, apresentando o resultado através de livros, instalações e filmes. Possui um doutoramento da Universidade de Wales, para o qual escreveu sobre Fotografia e Cinema na sua relação com os textos de W. G. Sebald e Georges Perec, assim como a sua relação com a memória e o Holocausto. Em 2016 recebeu o prémio AICA pelas exposições “Tentativa de Esgotamento” e “Léxico”.
