Bio

Anna Franceschini (Pavia, 1979, lives and works in Milan)

In 2019 she realized the short movie BUSTROFEDICO, special project commissioned for the Italian Pavilion in the 58th Venice Biennale. Her work has been featured in numerous film festivals including IFFR / Rotterdam Film Festival, Locarno Film Festival, TFF/Torino Film Festival, MFF/Milano Film Festival, Courtisane Film Festival, Ghent. Among her solo shows: Kunsthalle São Paulo; GAM, Turin; Kunstverein Duesseldorf; Spike Island, Bristol; Museion, Bozen; Fiorucci Art Trust, London; MACRO, Rome; Institut Culturel Italien, Paris; Peep Hole, Milan; Bielefelder Kunstverein; Kiosk Gallery, Ghent; Objectif – Exhibition, Antwerp; Fondazione Bevilacqua la Masa, Venice. She took part in group exhibitions in museums, galleries and international institutions, among which: Witte de With, Rotterdam; CAC, Vilnius; Kunstraum, London; Quadriennale, Rome; The Breeder Gallery, Athens; Villa Croce, Genoa; Matadero, Madrid; MARCO, Vigo; MAXXI, Rome; Nomas Foundation, Rome; Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin; PAC, Milan; MACRO, Rome; Futura, Prague; Villa Medici, Rome, Museu do Chiado, Lisbon. His work is represented in public and private collections, including: Museé National d’Art Moderne / Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; MACRO, Rome; Les Abattoires | Frac Midi Pyrénée; Nicoletta Fiorucci Collection, London. She is one of the winners of the Italian Council Grant in 2017. Currently, she is a PhD student in Visual and Media studies at the IULM university in Milan.

Anna Franceschini (Pavia, 1979) estudou em Milão onde completou o MA em Media Studies e uma bolsa de pós-graduação em História e Crítica de Cinema Italiano na iulm.
O seu trabalho tem sido apresentado e premiado em vários festivais de cinema, entre os quais: Festival de cinema de Roterdão (nl), 60° Festival de cinema de Locarno (ch), Festival de cinema de Turim (it) e Festival de cinema de Milão (it).
Das exposições coletivas em que participou destacam-se: Villa Croce, Génova (it); macro, Roma (it); Matadero, Madrid (es); Museo Nitsch, Nápoles (it); pac: Padiglione Arte Contemporanea, Milão (it); the green parrot, Barcelona (es); marco, Vigo (es); maxxi, Roma (it); Fundação Nomas, Roma (it); Fundação Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turim (it); Futura, Praga (cz); Villa Medici, Roma (it).

Em 2011 o seu trabalho foi premiado com uma menção honrosa no Ariane de Rothschild Prize – Milão (it), e foi vencedora do Fondazione Casoli Prize 2012 – Fabriano (it), New York Prize 2012 (Ministério dos Negócios Estrangeiros – it) e Terna Prize (it).
Participou em várias residências artísticas, entre as quais: Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten – Amsterdão (nl), vir / Viafarini In Residence – Milão (it), iscp program em Nova Iorque em 2013 (us), e macro, Roma (it), em 2014.
As suas obras fazem parte de colecções privadas e institucionais tais como: Museé National d’Art Moderne / Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (fr); macro, Roma (it); Les Abattoires / Frac Midi Pyrénée, Toulouse (fr); colecção Dommering, Amesterdão (nl) e Nicoletta Fiorucci, Londres (gb).
