CREATE EXCEPTIONS, RESPECT CONVICTIONS.
This is the motto at Vera Cortês Art Agency, which keeps an open house in Av. 24 de Julho, 54, 1st floor left. The agency was created in December 2003 to promote emerging artists and mediate their introduction in the art market and its several public and private agents. Its present office was opened in 2005 to serve both as working place and venue where to present the works of agency and invited artists in a friendly environment.
This is an open house where public, collectors and friends can drop by to see artists' works, refer to catalogues or simply chat about art, the universe and everything, and the same goes to the artists.
Rather than a space, the agency is made of relationships established and tended to between the many actors in the sphere of contemporary art, thus creating synergies that bring everyone involved into the next level, be it artist, collector or the audience.
At Vera Cortês, one always finds an open mind, ready to look at new projects and willing to take the risk. No one steps back and watches while the others work, no one is expected to single-handedly find all answers: the team is actively involved in the production, working in collaboration with the artists and others in order to create the necessary conditions for the projects to take place.
Vera Cortês Art Agency was born special in 2003. It is now 2007, the artists blossomed, the agency flourished, and it still is special.

Este é o mote da agência de arte que tem o seu escritório e casa aberta na avenida 24 de Julho, 54 - 1º esquerdo. Tendo sido criada em Dezembro de 2003 com o objectivo de promover e mediar as relações entre artistas emergentes e os diversos agentes públicos e privados, desde 2005 mantém este espaço que lhe permite mostrar a criação dos seus artistas e de artistas convidados de um modo dinâmico e em ambiente familiar.
Aqui, público, coleccionadores e amigos podem ver trabalhos dos artistas, consultar catálogos, ou simplesmente aparecer para dois dedos de conversa e discutir o que há de novo no mundo das artes (e não só).
Mais do que um espaço, a agência é as relações que são estabelecidas e cuidadas com e entre os diversos actores do meio da arte contemporânea, criando sinergias que permitam a todos avançar para o nível seguinte, sejam eles artistas, coleccionadores ou o público em geral.
Na Vera Cortês há uma disponibilidade permanente para pensar e arriscar em projectos inovadores, e ninguém se coloca no lugar do observador, enquanto espera que o artista faça aparecer o trabalho: há uma participação activa na produção das peças, procuram-se soluções em conjunto com os artistas e criam-se condições para que as obras sejam realizadas.
A agência de arte Vera Cortês era diferente quando nasceu em 2003. Estamos em 2007, os artistas saíram da casca, a agência cresceu, e continua a ser diferente.
