Forest is the school (for Pedro Neves Marques), 2017
Lenticular print
A poster announcing both the title of a publication by the artist Pedro Neves Marques “The Forest is the School / Where to sit at the dinner table?“ (Berlin: Archive Books, 2015) and a (future) installation and series of events at the Portuguese Embassy’s vacant lot in Hiroshimastr., Berlin. Neves Marques’ publication is an anthology on brazilian anthropophagy and the brazilian Antropofagia Movement, that ran from historical texts to contemporary essays by several thinkers and anthropologists on Amerindian cosmologies. The original “and“ in the title now suffers a continuous displacement, transforming repeatedly into “is“ as the reader’s viewpoint changes.

"One might say that a firework is nothing other than a tree or a big artificial flower that grows, blooms, and dies in the course of a few seconds. After that it withers and falls to the ground in unrecognizable shreds. Well then, let us take this firework and make it last a month, stretching the time element but leaving everything else as is. What we get will be a flower, with all the visual characteristics of other flowers. Or let us imagine the seed of a tree might explode like a bomb.”, 2015
